Currently (selectively) adding. I like my F-list the way it is (meaning not too small, but manageable), but if we have a lot in common, I'll add you. :)

Just leave me a comment please. :)

Love,

This is my very first Friends Cut and I feel a little bit bad about it, but my f-list has gotten kind of big and there are people I feel I didn't connect with at all. It's nothing personal, really, but there's just no point in keeping someone on your f-list when you don't ever read their posts and such...
I also cut you if I've never really talked to you and you haven't updated your LJ in a while.
(If you're new on my f-list (new= less than 3 weeks or so), no worries, you're safe)

So, if you can't see this post , please remove me from your f-list.

If you feel that I unfairly cut you, you can comment here (comments are screened) and I might consider re-adding you.

I was just talking to Susi [info]pasadora on MSN and we talked about the horror of movie and TV show titles translated to German, and I thought I'd share this awfulness with you all, plus an English back-translation, of course. Sometimes, they leave the original title and just put an awful addition to the title with a "-" . I don't watch all of these shows, I just find the titles the most random/ridiculous

Grey's Anatomy: Grey's Anatomy - Die jungen Ärzte = Grey's Anatomy - The young doctors
Bones: Bones - Die Knochenjägerin = Bones - The Bone Hunter
What I Like About You: Hallo, Holly! = Hello, Holly!
Weeds: Weeds - Kleine Deals unter Nachbarn = Weeds - Small deals among neighbors
Scrubs: Scrubs - Die Anfänger = Scrubs - The beginners
Two and a Half Men: Mein Cooler Onkel Charlie = My cool uncle Charlie
According to Jim: Immer Wieder Jim = Jim, again and again
That 70s Show: Die Wilden 70er = The Wild 70s
Married... with Children: Eine Schrecklich Nette Familie = A Horribly Nice Family
Home Improvement: Hör mal wer da hämmert = Listen who's hammering
My Wife and Kids: What's Up, Dad? = I do not think that requires another translation, lol.

And now, the even better... movie titles!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Nie wieder Sex mit der Ex = Never again Sex with the Ex
Just Like Heaven: Solange du da bist = As long as you're here
Music & Lyrics: Mitten ins Herz - Ein Song für dich = Into the middle of the heart - A song for you
The Holiday: Liebe braucht keine Ferien = Love doesn't need Holidays
Airplane!: Die unglaubliche Reise in einem verrückten Flugzeug = The incredible Trip in a crazy Airplane
The Notebook: Wie ein einziger Tag = Like a single day
Stepmom: Seite an Seite = Side by side
Cruel Intentions: Eiskalte Engel = Ice cold angels
Two Weeks Notice: Ein Chef zum Verlieben = A Boss to fall in Love with
A Knight's Tale: Ritter aus Leidenschaft = Knights out of Passion
The Parent Trap: Ein Zwilling kommt selten allein = A twin comes rarely alone
It Takes Two: Eins und eins macht vier = One plus one equals four
Meet the Parents: Meine Braut, ihr Vater und ich = My bride, her dad and I
Meet the Fockers: Meine Braut, ihre Schwiegereltern und ich = My bride, her in-laws and I

That's it for now. German-speakers, feel free to add stupid titles to my list.

by Tanya [info]tanya_90
Charmed: Charmed - Zauberhafte Hexen = Charmed - Charming Witches
What Lies Beneath: Schatten der Wahrheit = Shadows of Truth

Hello!

So this is the last public entry because it (remotely) has to do with interrailing. Well, it did for Jess and Sarah.

The last few days (Wednesday until this morning), we spent in Vienna.

Wednesday, we arrived here in Vienna at 9:30. We were super-lazy all day, we helped my sister finish her 1000-piece puzzle and my friend Dini came round... at night we went grocery shopping so we'd have breakfast for the next day, but that was about the most productive we got.
Since Sarah had never seen High School Musical 2 before, we really had to watch that that night, and then we watched random videos on youtube... Yup, told you we were lazy.

The next day, we were a LITTLE bit more productive. We did sleep in (as to not disappoint our lazy-factor), had lunch and then left for downtown Vienna. We walked round the Ringstraße and I showed the girls the University, City Hall (where they have a sort of fair now where you can eat food from all different countries, so of course I had to go to the Austria booth and get some Kaiserschmarrn and Sacher Torte), the Burgtheater, the Parliament Buildings, the Museum of Natural History/Art History (we did not go in, though), the Hofburg Palace, the Burggarten and the Opera House. Sarah and Jess tried to embarrass me by acting as touristy as possible (like screaming "OMFG LOOK!!!" at everything they saw- didn't work, though. They stopped after 3 or 4 tries, haha) and then we went to Starbucks; shopped for a bit in Kärntner Straße and am Graben (I went into Accessorize in the hope that they'd have the lovely polka-dotted ballet pumps that they had in Amsterdam AND Rome, but never in my size, but noooo they did not. Idiots. :( I really wanted them) and spent quite some time in the Mozart Souvenir Store (which is super super boring for locals if you've just been in one a couple months ago, btw lol). It started raining pretty badly so we all got wet (even though we had umbrellas) and my mom gave us a ride from the station, thank god.
At night we watched Hairspray as Jess hadn't seen it before. I love that movie. ♥
Before going to bed, we played a board game "what would happen if..." where you write your names on the board (which turned out to be difficult as Sarah and Jess had to come up with insults for each other, lol) and then, if the pin ends up on your name, you draw a card and you get a question like "if ... were a fruit, what would she be?" and you get 6 possible answers and you have to agree with the person that this thing is about.
After that, we played another round of "Truth or Truth" and then went to bed at 2 am.

The next day was more of a lazy day again, I would say. I went grocery shopping to get stuff for making Tacos for lunch, in the afternoon we only hung round the house watching the Gossip Girl finale on my living room TV and doing god knows what... Jess started "decorating" my door with post its on which she wrote inside jokes from our trip. Now, two days later, there are around 45 post its on my door, and now I'm waiting for my pictures to be developed and then my door will be filled with interrailing stuff. Anyway, at night we went to eat Running Sushi (apparently that's not common anywhere so I'll explain: it's a Japanese restaurant through which runs a conveyor belt and you sit next to it and watch the food "roll" down and you just take whatever you want. it's fun!) and then my mom drove us to the Schönbrunn Palace so that we could take pictures. When we got back, we watched the Parent Trap but didn't finish it as we were super super tired.

Yesterday, we decided to be sightsee-y once again and went to the Danube Tower. Unfortunately we couldn't eat there as we had planned because the cafe was locked down for a private party, but the girls did get to enjoy the view over Vienna. We then went to Mariahilfer Straße, a shopping street, to look for shoes for Sarah, and wanted to go eat at this Bagel place, but guess what, it was closed, too. At this point, practically starving, we went to this Japanese restaurant, from which you can view all over Vienna. When getting there, we witnessed the scenario of what must've been an internet meet-up blind date sort of thing. The girl brought her friend, the guy seemed kind of weird, and Jess and Sarah got REALLY interested in what they were talking about and how it was going. We sat too far away, though. At one point Jess was like "I wish her friend would go to the bathroom" and a minute later she did. Freaky. We had fun, though.
We then went back on the Ringstraße to go see the Johann Strauß monument, as Jess had talked to her mom on the phone the night before and her mom told her she was obsessed with him, so Jess had to go take a picture for her mom. hehe.
At night, the girls packed, we watched Enchanted and random Veronica Mars videos on youtube, which kind of brought back my obsession. It annoys me that VM is one of those shows where you can't only watch one episode; and then Sarah and Jess came up with a list of movies I have to have seen, as I'm apparently some sort of movie retard as I haven't seen any.
[ Be proud, girls, I already watched one (When Harry met Sally) and LOVED it! ]

Today in the morning, we went to the airport. Sarah's flight should've left at 11:40, Jess' at 12:30. They both pretty much left at the same time, as Sarah's flight was an hour delayed. Anyway... Saying goodbye to them was terribly sad. :( I cried. :'(

Now they're gone and I'm bored out of my mind.

These were probably the most amazing 3 weeks ever- I spent them with two girls I adore, we never got into a fight, we saw lots and lots of pretty places, had a lot of fun and laughed a lot and met many many people. what more could you ask for?

Hey!!

I'm back home!

Anyway, we had fun the last couple days in Rome. We did meet our roommates eventually (the ones that didn't come back one night). Apparently they went on a Pub Crawl and "woke up in an unknown place". They were 2 guys from Chile and one from the US. They were nice though.
They left the next day and we got new roommates- a slightly weird guy from Brazil and two really nice girls from the US.

The next day in the morning, we went to Vatican City and into the Vatican Museums. We queued for like an hour but the queue was CRAZY long! We saw the Sistine Chapel, amongst other things, but some of the chapels made by Raffael I found way more impressive than the Sistine Chapel. Oh well.
Then we went for lunch right next to the Vatican Museums and obviously it was very overpriced and not very good. Oh well...
We then went into the St. Peter's cathedral which was cool as it is the largest cathedral in the world and stuff... We had way more fun laughing at all the people who were denied entry because they were wearing super-short mini skirts or shorts and tank tops (they even had SIGNS at the beginning of the queue that said you weren't allowed to enter), so Jess, Sarah and I sat next to the queue, laughing at and mocking people who weren't allowed to go in. It was SO much fun.
When walking out, we saw this German girl who put toilet paper around her shoulders to make fake sleeves. It was the most hilarious thing EVER! I really wonder if she got in.

On our way back, we saw this dress in a boutique that we had seen a few days earlier and all liked, so we went in, Sarah tried it on first, loved it; then I tried it on and loved it, and finally, Jess tried it on and loved it too so now we all have the same dresses. We live in different countries though so that's fine :D

That night, we went to another restaurant that the Let's Go Guide recommended (we basically lived off the Let's Go recommendations in Rome) which was pretty good, then we walked to the Tiber and took pictures on a bridge and then went back to our hostel-area to get gelato, obviously.

The next morning, we checked out, brought our bags to the train station and then walked to the Pantheon which was really cool... It's creepy how a building like this could survive 2,000 years. Then we went SHOPPING! YAY! I bought lots of stuff at the Body Shop as they had such a good sale; then I bought Hannah Montana PJs for my sister at the Disney Store and I found these machines where you put 1 Euro in and then you get a mini-Winnie Pooh for your cell phone. I saw them in Canada before but we never had them so I got really excited and bought 7 of them, lol.

Then we had to go back to the train station, bought food and kept complaining about the night train because we were all dreading it (even though Sarah was maybe dreading it more than we were- or she was just complaining more :p ) but it ended up not being too bad. We shared our compartment with a really nice girl from Montreal which got Jess really excited, and this really posh English guy which got Sarah excited (as Jess wished for someone she could speak French to, and Sarah wished for someone from the UK) and this old lady from Romania who spoke a few bits of Italian and that was it, haha. Kinda difficult to communicate but oh well... Anyway, this time the air conditioning actually WORKED!! :o Surprise, surprise, and I could sleep for 8 hours, yay!

When coming home, I was surprised by the fact that my dad had bought a car in my absence that is now (at least half) mine. :o WHY DON'T PEOPLE EVER TELL ME THESE THINGS? lol. I haven't driven it yet, but it's a BMW. Used, but not half bad. :)

Anyway, I gotta go now! xoxoxo

Hi all! :)

So, after leaving the Super Room in Florence and taking the train to Rome (which proved to be harder than you would think, due to my stupidity of mixing up 6 and 9 and us therefore ending up in the wrong compartment and having to walk down three whole wagons, lol), we got to our hostel which is interesting as it's definitely not anything like anywhere we've stayed before, as it only has like 10 beds and is actually a huge apartment made into a hostel.
We're sharing a 6-bed room with 3 guys that we haven't seen yet. Please keep in mind that we've been here for 25 hours, lol. They never came home tonight and were here after we went out.

So yesterday it was CRAZY hot. It was probably around 40 degrees. So we stayed at our hostel for a bit and went to the Trevi Fountain then. It's pretty impressive, REALLY huge. Then we went to the Piazza del Popolo to get dinner.

Here, I have a story to tell you.

10 things you should not do in an Italian restaurant (or any restaurant for that matter).

10. Don't say please or thank you.
9. Stop the waiter and ask him to bring bread to your table (in a restaurant where you get it anyway)
8. Stop the waiter again to remind him to bring bread.
7. Run inside after the waiter to tell him to bring everything at once instead.
6. Ask a random waiter to bring more bread after you've already eaten a basket full.
5. Order a Coke and a Sprite and ask for four glasses.
4. Run inside to ask the waiter for a pizza rolling knife.
3. While waiting for the check, hold up a 20-Euro bill in a snobbish kind of way.
2. Question the bill due to the lack of understanding the language of the country you're in.

and finally, my favorite, number 1:
1. Upon learning that you have to pay for a 1-liter glass bottle of water, you ask if you can at least bring it home.

I swear to you, ALL THIS HAPPENED at the table next to us. At one point we felt like we were on Punk'd. These were two American kids, maybe 14 and 16. WHO HAS THIS KIND OF MANNERS??? Seriously! Don't parents teach their kids how to behave in restaurants?
Oh well, we laughed the whole time. Only I think the guys thought we fancied them since we kept looking over to their table to see what they'd do next.

Being totally wiped out, we just went to our hostel after that and went to bed super-early (which means like 11:30-ish)

Today we went to the Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. We realized too late that with paying for a tour at the Colosseum, we could get one at the Palatine Hill for free. We went to the Palatine Hill first and didn't understand ANYTHING because none of the excavations were labeled. Kinda sucks, especially after studying that crap (=latin) for four years. Then we went to the Colosseum and paid for the tour which was REALLY interesting and only 45 minutes long, therefore bearable. The tour guide was funny, too. Only I had difficulties understanding him sometimes because he had a very broad Italian accent when talking, oh well.
We then tried getting onto the free tour and back into the Palatine Hill because our ticket actually said "Day ticket" so we thought it was valid all day. It was not, obviously, so we couldn't do the free tour of the Forum Romanum. :(
Now we're back at the hostel because, even though it rained, it is still crazy hot and the heat is almost unbearable.
Jess and I went to get groceries (because we can cook our own breakfast here, I say "can" because we realized it's a blessing to just go to the store and buy anything you like) and Sarah's napping, haha.

Anyway... ciao!

Hi everyone!

So, after my last entry that I posted while being on the verge of dying... okay, no, but allergic reactions are HIGHLY uncomfortable!! ... Day II in Florence.

So, in the morning we took the train to Pisa, walked through the shopping street there and went to see the Leaning Tower. Of course we took the classic Leaning Tower Pictures where you hold up the tower... Then we went for lunch on our way back to the train station. When we got back to Florence, we went into our room for about an hour because it was TOO FREAKING HOT. Seriously, you just can't sightsee when it's 35°C outside.
I had bought cake the previous day (when I got lost while looking for aftersun lotion) so while Sarah applied said lotion in the bathroom, I quietly went outside in the lobby and put candles in the cake etc.... The stupid lighter broke, though. Crappy 1 Euro thing! and it took me forever lightening the candles with another candle. Anyway, I walked in, we sang happy birthday, Sarah was mad that she was in underwear when she got the cake (lol) and then I gave her a present, and I think she liked it, hehe. It was an I love Tim Riggins shirt and a self-made Ed/Chuck calendar, haha.
Then we went out and bought alcohol to celebrate. lol.
We then got ready to go out and went for dinner at this restaurant near the Duomo. Then we found the ice cream place that (according to Let's Go Western Europe), you will remember in 50 years. I might. The ice cream was REALLY good.
We made our way through the city and walked up to the Piazzale Michelangelo, a place on a hill where you can overlook the whole city, and watched the sunset... Soooooo pretty!! We actually wanted to go there the day before but we didn't make it in time so we watched it from the Ponte Vecchio then.
Then we went back to our hostel room and took our drinks to the balcony, but due to an invasion of lizards, we had to move our small party to our room, where we played drinking games, including "the Jess game". Basically, Jess just invented what we had to do as the game went along. We also played "truth or truth" haha. It was quite the hilarious night, I would say.

Okay, here are some pictures from Florence.

follow me... )

Okay, that's it for today. We have to leave the super room in like 20 minutes which sucks. :(

Hi!

As promised, here are the pictures. A little late, as I had an allergic reaction earlier (and this time, Jess and Sarah had to go to the pharmacy to get me stronger anti-histamines than the ones I had...). The sucky thing is that I don't know why I got the allergic reaction which is really annoying...

Anyway, pictures. It'll be A LOT.

definitely not dial-up friendly! )

Buon giorno!
Come va?
C'è una entrada di Firenze.

I don't speak Italian so be proud in case that is actually correct, haha.

We took the night train last night which was SO FREAKING MUCH WORSE THAN THE LAST TIME! argh! Jess and I made Sarah take the middle bunk as it sucked the last time, and we took the top bunks, only to find out that the top bunks were indeed WORSE than the middle bunks. Sarah told us off in her blog for complaining about the heat, but I swear, she was SO LUCKY because it was actually cooler down on the middle bunk.
Anyway, I slept even worse than the last time, obviously. I got a total of maybe 4-5 hours of sleep but I woke up every half hour, either scared that my bag got stolen or that I'd fall off the freaking tiny bunk bed.
We did get breakfast before arriving though which was a nice surprise. As you might remember, we didn't get anything in Amsterdam and were starved by the time we got there.

We got to Florence at 6:40am which was TOO.FREAKING.EARLY! We took the train to the other station and then went to our hostel to check in. We couldn't get into our room until noon though so we walked to the American Express office so that Sarah could cash her traveler's cheques and then we participated in the hostel's free walking tour which was interesting and the Italian guide had such a cute accent. She pronounced soccer "sok-zer". I don't remember much of what she said though as I was too tired, haha. We got to see quite a lot of the city already though, so we didn't feel bad walking back to the hostel and having a 2-hour (or in Sarah and Jess' case 3 1/2 hour) nap.
I then went out to get aftersun lotion for Sarah as she was super whiney because of her lobster skin and on the way back I got lost because the street I was looking for had a different name on the first 5 meters, so I had to buy a map for 1 Euro at the tourist office, lol.
Then we proceeded to do our laundry because everything was so freaking gross already, haha, and got Italian food.
Pasta is considered a starter here, but believe me, it's SO enough. I had half a pizza after that and now I'm super-full. We still want to get gelato later though.

Now I have to go, Sarah and Jess keep telling me to hurry up so that we don't miss the sunset in Piazzale Michelangelo.
I'll update later with a massive picspam!

Hi!

This is going to be short as today wasn't THAT jam-packed. Basically, it was our lazy day!

We got up and had breakfast at this Crepes-place next to our hostel. The crepe was good but the service was AWFUL. We waited like 10 minutes to get the menu, 30 minutes to get our Crepe and another 15 minutes or so until we could pay. Fun, right?

Anyway, after breakfast we went to the train station to get the bus to the beach from there. The beach was AWESOME! They had a huge pool and a water slide (we didn't actually go into the lake, only the pools) and we sunbathed. The sun here is really strong, probably stronger than in Italy or so... Jess used SPF 30. Sarah and I used 15. I was close to burning and Sarah is now red as a lobster! Haha!

Now we're back at the hostel and in about a half hour we have to leave to go to the train station to get our night train to Florence. YAY, another night train. (/sarcasm)

Talk to you all soon! xoxo

Hi everyone!

I'm in Geneva now which is most definitely the dullest, un-touristy city ever!!!!

There's absolutely nothing to do here. The plan in our hostel even said "Only one day in Geneva? No problem!"
We saw the Vieille Ville and the Jet d'Eau (apparently the largest fountain in Europe), went to Central Perk Cafe and the United Nations Buildings. That's ALL THERE IS!!!!

We had dinner at this place called Chez ma Cousine, it was recommended like everywhere and it was really good. You got table mats where you could draw your "cousine" and Sarah, Jess and I obviously went crazy and it all ended with us writing down all German/English/French insults we knew! haha!

The hostel is about the coolest thing ever though. It's super-clean and they have EVERYTHING!!! From Swiss chocolate to an internet cafe. Seriously, everything!!!

Tomorrow we're going to go to the beach. I'm so excited for that and just hope the weather won't be crap.

I can't upload my pictures for some reason.... :( I tried 7 different ways but it just won't work. Stupid thing! You'll have to endure an even longer picture post then, whenever I REALLY get somewhere I can upload pics...

Talk to you the day after tomorrow probably. Maybe tomorrow if the weather's crap, cause then we REALLY won't know what to do, haha.

Check our Sarah's blog, too: http://interrailing-antics.blogspot.com

Hi everyone.

Warning: this is going to be long.

Okay, so when I last blogged,we were still in Brussels. We got a later train than we had wished for so we won a half day that we used on seeing the Manneken Pis dressed up in traditional Venezuelan clothes as it was their national holiday. We then went to get frites avec mayonnaise which is a Belgian specialty, it wasn't even that bad.
Then we sat outside our hostel for like an hour to wait for the lockout to end and went to Paris by train.
It then took us FOREVER to find an open ticket booth to buy metro tickets but we finally managed and went to our hotel in the 19e arrondissement which is a PROPER HOTEL! The room is small but it's enough and the shower pressure is AWESOME (which, believe me, is actually incredible on this trip). We went out for dinner at the pizza place next to our hotel and then took the metro to the Eiffel Tower, and the metro actually goes above ground for a bit and we came out exactly at 10, so we saw it sparkle... SOOOOO PRETTY! We then queued for a freaking eternity and while we queued, they closed the 3rd floor deck (which is on top). I was kinda gutted because it's just really cool but then we FINALLY got up (after 90 minutes of queuing) on the 2nd floor which is pretty high already and it was just such a beautiful moment, seeing Paris at nighttime (which is one of the most beautiful things you will ever see in life, I bet) and being up there with two of my best friends. :D We all decided that if our boyfriend proposed on the Eiffel Tower, we'd totally say yes, whether we love him or not, lol.
Very tired, we took a taxi back to the hotel and fell asleep soon.
PS. MY IPOD IS WORKING AGAIN!!!!! SQUEEE!!!!! :D

The next day we had baguette for breakfast, YUM, and then went to the train station to get reservations for the train to Geneva. We queued for freaking 50 minutes!!!!!!! We then went to see City Hall and walked to Notre Dame and then we decided to go to the Louvre as it's free the first Sunday of the month which was cool even though it was obviously crazily crowded, BUT we didn't have to queue very much... We did see the Mona Lisa however. and the painting of the album cover for the new Coldplay album.
We then went to Subway and bought sandwiches to eat in the Luxembourg gardens. By the time we got there, it was like 3:30 and we were STARVED! Plus, our feet were super-sore cause we'd been walking all the way since City Hall. We stayed in the gardens for a good hour and a half, sleeping and listening to our iPods...
Then we went to Montmartre where we saw Sacre Coeur (my favorite monument in Paris, it's sooo pretty!) and went to see the Moulin Rouge and then we wanted to get food in this restaurant area in Montmartre but we couldn't find it (or I couldn't, haha) and we got lost but then we just went back to the Moulin Rouge area and had dinner there, it was pretty good.
That night, we were so freaking exhausted, we fell into bed at like 11:30, probably the earliest we've gone to bed at.

Today in the morning, we went to take the train to Versailles. The castle was closed but it would've been 20 Euros to get in anyway which is too much for our tight budget, haha. We went to a grocery store and brought baguette and Kinder Pingui and apples to eat there but the weather was unfortunately crap- rainy and windy, ew.
We went back to our hotel because Jess was only wearing a dress and freezing, so we got changed (oh, I forgot to tell you the funniest thing: last night we were doing laundry in the sink and Sarah put toothpaste on her laundry instead of laundry detergent, because it was my detergent and she couldn't understand German. Jess and I laughed until our stomachs hurt so bad we had to stop, haha)... anyway, after she got changed, we went to the Galeries Lafayette, a HUGE department store, probably comparable to Bloomingdales, but even more expensive, haha.
Then we went to the Champs Elysees where I bought stuff for my sister at the Disney store (Lisa , I'm not telling you what it is, though. :p) and a shirt and a sweater for me at Gap and a shirt for my sister and then we went to eat AWESOME burgers at a place near Champs Elysees. We wanted to go to Planet Hollywood but it was closed for some reason. Stupid construction work... :( Then we climbed the Arc de Triomphe which was EXHAUSTING and now I'm writing this blog.

Tomorrow we'll take the 11:10 train to Geneva from where I'll hopefully be able to blog again because this went on WAY too long.

Hi everyone!

This keyboard is actually the crappiest thing I have ever seen so I"ll try to keep it short.

Yesterday after Cilla and Manon left, Sarah, Jess and I went on a cruise through the Amsterdam Canals. It was sooo pretty cause it happened right when the sun set so that was cool. We also got to see the Red Light District because we were too scared to walk into it, hahaha.

Then we decided to check out the Amsterdam nightlife but the bar the Let's go guide recommended looked way fancier than we were dressed so we went to this other place and had a drink. It was fun!

Today in the morning, after breakfast, we went to the train station to take the train to Brussels. That wasn't too hard. Finding our hostel was, though. We walked all the way from the train station to the Grand Place where the tourist information was just to find out where to go because the street the hostel is on only has two houses so it's not indicated on ANY maps!! EVIL!

Still at the train station, I made reservations for the Thalys train tomorrow and first the person working at the station was like "I don't think we have any spots left for tomorrow anymore." :o I was so fucking shocked, like, seriously! But then we got some, only 5 hours later than we'd planned so we still have a half day in Brussels tomorrow.

When we finally found the hostel and checked in, we went to see the Grand Place (google it,it's SOOO pretty!) and the Manneken Pis, obviously. We then went to a park and lay down in the grass and listened to music.
We then went to get a proper dinner at a proper restaurant (cause we've lived off Pizza, sandwiches and Chinese takeout the past 2 days) and I was sooo full, I thought I was going to be sick. The food was awesome though.
Anyway... we walked to the Royal Palace and it was seriously awesomely pretty.

Brussels is a very underrated city I think. While there isn't too much to see, the city itself is SO pretty and you can just like wander around the city for 3 hours.

Before we got back to the hostel, we stopped to have a Belgian Waffle, soooooo good! :)

Anyway, I don't know if I'll be able to update from Paris cause I don't think Etap Hotels have internet access, but I guess we'll see. I'll try, in any case, because this is my traveler's blog at the same time as I don't have the time to write two.

Here I am again. Day 2.

We got up around 9-ish today... Had breakfast at the hostel which was surprisingly good. It's the Vondelpark Stayokay btw, for those of you who asked... We learned that butter isn't called butter in every language, ha ha.

Then we went to the train station to meet up with Cilla and Manon which went pretty smoothly, except that the Pizza Hut wasn't called Pizza Hut, haha.
I had such a blast today though.
We went shopping because my bag broke so I got a really cute polka-dotted one on sale at H&M... Cilla has the same one. Sorry again! hehe.
My water bottle leaked, though, and now my iPod has a water damage, woo. I have to wait until it dries again to figure out whether or not it still works. :(
Then we spent AGES looking for lunch and an ATM and finally went into a department store ("The Bloomingdales of Amsterdam") to have a sandwich... Then we walked around, bought loads of Dutch candy, some of which was really good, and some of which was gross (licorice- ew!), and pastries which were all awesome, and we went to a cafe to sit down... took lots of pictures that I'm going to post at a later point, and then we walked back to the train station.

It was an absolutely awesome day, and the twins are absolute sweethearts ♥

Later on, we'll go on a Canal Cruise on the Amsterdam Canals... and then we'll go to a bar type thing cause, hey, we're in Amsterdam, we have to check out the nightlife here! :)

Talk to you soon! xoxo

That's probably wrong but I can't look it up right now as I'm at the hostel in Amsterdam.

Yeah, got here this noon. It's pretty awesome.

Yesterday at 12, Jess got here, and after doing some shopping, we went to my place, ordered takeout, went swimming and my friends Dini and Julie came over to say bye and it was really nice.

Then we went to the train station to take the night train.
The night train was an experience for itself. We shared our compartment with a really nice Dutch couple and.... an Asian family (well, a mom with two little kids) who had really smelly food and the kids were really loud and annoying, haha. The night train was highly uncomfortable and I was really paranoid about my stuff being stolen so I woke up every half hour all night. Oh well...

We arrived in Amsterdam at 12:40pm. We went to the hostel (that's quite a lot nicer than I expected) and met up with Sarah- yay! Then we went out for lunch to Pizza Hut because Jess and I were starved (DON'T EVER GO ON A NIGHT TRAIN WITHOUT FOOD!!!!!) and then we went to the Van Gogh museum which was really cool, only I wish I wasn't this exhausted because I would've enjoyed it more.

When taking a pretty long walk along almost all of Prinsengracht (to get to the Anne Frank House), it started to POOR. Seriously, we got REALLY wet even though we had an umbrella so we stopped for drinks and then we went to the Anne Frank Huis which is, seriously, SO SAD. I was on the verge of crying several times. Plus, everything is really really small, like you'd think it's impossible that 8 people lived there.

We got dinner in a supermarket at the trainstation and now I'm in the hostel writing this. I cannot upload any pictures yet because the computer's hidden somewhere so I can't find the USB port but as soon as I can upload pictures, I promise, I will.

Tomorrow we'll meet up with Cilla and Manon, I'm so excited, it's going to be lots of fun!

That's it for today, kids! ♥

Hey everyone!

For the time being (=meaning: the time of my interrail trip), this blog is going to be public...

For all my Austrian friends reading this now, I'm sorry, but it'll be written in English, so that everyone else understands, too.

Leaving TOMORROWWWWWWWWW! I cannot wait. I'll pick up Jess from the airport at 11:40 in the morning. Then we'll have the day to spend in Vienna, probably by running errands and swimming since it's supposed to be nice and warm tomorrow; and then at night, we'll take the night train to Amsterdam, where we'll meet Sarah Wednesday around lunchtime. This is the plan for the next two days.

This is our itinerary:

July 2-4: Amsterdam
July 4-5: Brussels
July 5-8: Paris
July 8-9: Geneva
July 10-12: Florence
July 12-15: Rome
July 16-20: Vienna

I'll try and update this thing as much as possible, MAYBE even with pictures sometimes, but I won't promise anything as I don't know how much net access we'll have.

Commenting is totally allowed for non-Livejournal-users, by the way (for LJ users too, but that's a given...)

xoxo
